April Rumsey BVSc - Veterinarian

April is a part-time Veterinarian at Town and Country Vet and works with Small animals only. She has a passion for soft tissue surgery, medicine and dermatology. Most days she will be found consulting, performing routine surgery and she is a wizz for removing tricky teeth. April offers a friendly, warm service for our customers and their animals.

April grew up in Auckland. Her dream to become a vet started because she had a variety of pets as a child from mice to a pony and had always wanted to work with animals.

After a good few years of hard studying at Massey University, she practised in Auckland, before traveling over to the UK on her OE for several years and then residing back in the Nelson region.

April moved back to the Nelson area to raise her children close to her family. She joined Town and Country Vet in 2000.

If you really want to see April in her element, She spends her free time gardening, walking, cycling, yoga and Gliding in the summer!

April’s remaining time is kept busy with her two children, cat and rabbit.
